That’s what we call ranch function.
Sunny Okanogan Angus was founded in 1961 by Lou and Elda Vejraska. They built this program with pride in the Angus breed and a belief in producing cattle that work. As the breed grew and developed, that passion became something they passed down through their son, grandsons and great-granddaughters. From the beginning, this ranch has been built through family effort. From calving and branding to farming and weaning, our family comes together for just about every aspect of ranch life. It’s hard work, but it’s also what makes this operation more than a business.
Built the honest way
In the early years, Lou spent every spare hour growing the ranch and building the herd while working full-time as a dentist. Those early hours set the standard for the program we run today. Over the next four decades, Lou, alongside his son Craig and grandsons Todd and Scott, sold bulls on a private treaty basis. The bull crop was always well received, and return buyers became the norm. Trust was built through cattle that performed in real-world conditions.
What we believe in
Our herd is built on the same genetics we offer to you. Every bull in our program is hand selected for soundness, longevity and performance. We focus on cattle that are athletic, efficient and ready to go to work.
We’ve always put heavy value on cow families, believing they are the foundation of any herd. Firsthand experience through the entire production cycle drives our commitment to balanced, maternal-driven genetics that stand the test of time. It’s not about chasing trends. It’s about producing cattle that work.
Rooted in community
Sunny Okanogan Angus is devoted to our community and the next generation. Each year we support livestock sales at the Okanogan County Fair, as well as the Ferry County and Douglas County fairs. Over the years, we’ve helped support more than 250 youth exhibitors in their fair endeavors. Our family is also active in volunteer organizations that help protect and sustain the rural way of life we’re proud to call home.
Sale day
In 2000, we transitioned from selling bulls privately into the annual bull sale environment. We’ve been grateful ever since to watch this tradition grow into a gathering that brings cattlemen together year after year. Today, we’re proud to see second and third generation bull buyers in the bleachers on sale day. That kind of loyalty means everything to our family.
Our Annual Bull Sale is held each March at the Okanogan Livestock Market on the second Thursday. We serve lunch to all our friends, followed by a full sale offering of reliable, stout and genetically proven bulls.
